About

I've spent most of my career keeping other people's systems running.

Before AI became the conversation, I was building and operating infrastructure behind the scenes: servers, hosting systems, customer operations, uptime, support.

I founded EAC Directory in 2005. It grew into one of Kenya's leading .ke domain registrars. HostAfrica acquired it in December 2022.

In those years I watched the same thing happen again and again. A business puts its domain, its email and its website into someone else's hands. Then one day it cannot get any of it back.

That is not a technology problem. Nothing was broken. The domain simply sat in an account nobody at the business could open, managed by a person who had stopped replying.

Today I am Managing Director for Kenya at HostAfrica. This site is separate from that job. It is where I write down what the work taught me, and where the free tools live.

I also run Ujiajiri, which trains young Kenyans in Linux, DNS, hosting and WordPress so they can earn from those skills. Most of the work described on this site is work a trained freelancer should be doing. I care less about trends than about what actually holds up.
